Matar Paneer Recipe
Matar
Paneer is a delicious recipe that hails from the north of India that is an all
time favourite. Matar Paneer is a delicious combination of soft paneer and
healthy green peas in a mild spicy tomato based gravy and some indian spices.
The key is to cook the paneer prior to making the gravy which keeps the edges
crisp yet moist.
Follow our step by step photo recipe to make
this simple and yummy curry at home to serve with roti,paratha,or rice.
- .For Puree:
· oil-2 tsp
· onion-2( chopped)
· ginger-1 inch
· tomatoes-4-5(chopped)
2.Other
ingredients:
·
oil-3 tbsp
·
jeera / cumin seeds-1tsp.
·
turmeric powder / haldi-1 tsp
·
salt- to taste
·
coriander powder-¾ tsp
·
cumin powder / jeera powder-¼ tsp
·
garam masala powder-1 tsp.
·
water- 2 cup (add to adjust consistency)
·
Saahi paneer masala -2 tbsp(optional)
·
fresh / frozen-1cup peas(boiled)
·
paneer / cottage cheese, homemade paneer-200 gram(cubed)
·
kasuri methi / dry fenugreek leaves, crushed-1 tsp
·
coriander leaves-1/2 cup (chopped)
·
Green chilly-1(thinny sliced)
·
Dry red chilly-1
· Cardamom powder (elaichi)-3-4
· Khoya-1/3 cup
· Cardamom powder (elaichi)-3-4
· Khoya-1/3 cup
Method:
1.
For
onion-tomato paste
·
Firstly,
in a large kadai take oil and add chopped onions, ginger and garlic.
·
saute
on medium flame till onions turns slightly golden brown.
·
further
add chopped tomatoes and saute till they turn soft.
·
finally,
blend to smooth paste.
2.
Matar
paneer recipe:
·
If
you are using fresh green peas,boil them in salted water for 5-6 minutes,and
drain them.
·
Heat
oil for shallow frying in a pan over a medium heat. Add the paneer cubes in
batches and fry. Make sure they get an even colour and go a light brown (this
should take around 2-3 minutes) Drain over kitchen paper and add to a bowl .

In
the same kadai add oil and let the oil heat.
·
Further
add jeera, green chilly,dry red chilly and fry it for few seconds.
·
Add
kasuri methi, chilly powder and turmeric powder into the oil and fry it for
8-10 sec.
·
Now
added blended onion - tomato paste and cook it for 3-4 min. on medium flame.
·
Add
coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, cardamom powder,sahi paneer
masala,khoya and fry.Simmer the heat and keep stirring for 5-6 min.

Add
boiled peas and mix well and cook it for another 2-3 min.on low medium flame .
·
Finally
add shallow fried paneer and mix well properly.
·
Add
2 cup of water and salt ,stir it.cover the pan and cook it for another 2-3 minutes on
low heat.
·
Turn
off the gas and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.Serve in a bowl,garnish
with fresh coriander leaves.
