Dhokli or Dal Tikki is a famous dish in U.P.,Rajasthan and Gujrat. This is very
tasty dish and prepared by toovar dal & Whole wheat flour.Apart from being easy to prepare,healthy and stomach filling.This dal dhokli is capable of carrying entire meal on its own.
It is known by various names in various states.A complete meal to satisfy your hunger. This dish is also very easy to cook you can try at home
and enjoy..
Ingredients
- Whole Wheat Flour(Atta) – 250 gm.
- Salt -as per taste
- Turmeric Powder –1 tbsp
- Red Chilly Powder – 1/4 tbsp
- Oil (for dough) – 2 tbsp
- Water -3 glass
- Toovar Dal-250 gm.
- Garlic Cloves-12-14
- Green Chilly-2
- Raw Mango Slices-5-6
- Desi Ghee-Clarified Butter – 3-4 tbsp
- Asaefoetida – 1/2 tsp.
- Dry Red Chilly-1
- Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves – 2-3 tbsp.
· Method:
· In a wide vessel add the wheat flour, salt (2 tsp.), turmeric powder, oil(2 tbsp.) and knead this into a soft dough by adding water to this.
· Cover this and keep aside for 30 min.
· Make small balls from the dough and flatten balls into round shape with the help of finger using little whole wheat flour.and keep these dhoklis aside.Make sure that it should not be too thick or too thin.The thickness should be medium. or you can make these dhokli with the help of rolling pin.
· Wash and soak toor dal for 30 min.
· Take dal into pressure cooker.Add toor dal ,salt,hing,turmeric powder,raw mango slices,3 glass of water,and green chilly,garlic paste .Let it cook for 2-3 whistles on medium flame.then turn off the stove.Now dal should be cooked,Open the lid of pressure cooker .
· Now add dhoklis one by one in boiling dal and add 2 tbsp. of ghee.
· Cook it till dhoklis are done.It will take 10-15 min.Now turn off the gas.
· Now let’s make the tadka.Heat the ghee in a small tadka pan on medium heat,Once hot add chopped garlic,cumin seeds,mustard seeds,dry red chilly.Let them sizzle a bit.Lastly add hing.Immediately add the tempering to the Dal Dhokli.
· Garnish with coriander leaves and pour 1 tbsp of ghee.
· Serve hot dal dhokli with green chutney.
